Personal University of Ballarat Email Address for Students

All University of Ballarat students have now been issued with a University email address. In future, all important University information and communications will take place via your University email address.

Instructions for Students

Students will need to access their email messages via the Web (WWW).
Please follow these steps:

Get into the Internet.
Type in http://www.ballarat.edu.au
The University main page will come up.
Look down the right hand side of the page until you see the words "Student webmail". Click on these words and you will get into the first screen of the Student webmail.
Please choose the campus from the pull down menu. Choose "Sydney" if available.
If the word Sydney is not available, please choose "Mt Helen".
After a few seconds you will be given a new screen which will ask for your user name and password.

User Name: enter your University of Ballarat student ID number
Password: enter the initial of your first given name plus your date of birth (day,month,year).

So if your given name is Elizabeth and your birthdate is 8 December 1975, type in "e08121975"

Once you have done this you will be able to see any email that has been sent to you and use this system as a means of sending your own email. Under normal circumstances, your email address will be:
First given name initial+surname@students.ballarat.edu.au
For example, if your name is John Smith, your email address will be jsmith@students.ballarat.edu.au

Sometimes there are several students with the same name, in this case the University has a convention to give each student a unique email address. Once you have accessed the Web for the first time using your user name and password, you will be able to see the exact email address that has been given to you.

Brand new students must please note that it may take up to two weeks after enrolment for your email account to be made available.

Instructions for staff

Staff wishing to communicate with students via the University Of Ballarat email system only need to know a student's University of Ballarat ID number. If you do not know a student's ID number, please contact the Student Services Desk for help.
The format of the student's email address is: studentnumber@fs2.ballarat.edu.au
